David Gil is Full Professor in the area of Computer Architecture and Technology in the Department of Information Technology and Computing. He graduated in Computer Engineering in the first promotion of Computer Engineering at the University of Alicante in 1995.
He is the author of more than 50 articles published in high impact factor JCR journals. His main research areas are Big Data applications, Machine Learning, Data Mining, IoT, Human Activity Recognition, dashboards using both open data from public repositories for the research community and the creation of new databases. He has also participated in projects for the development of Artificial Intelligence applications in the areas of healthcare and cognitive sciences.
Regarding internationalisation, he has carried out a José Castillejo research stay in Lund (Sweden) and almost ten Erasmus short stays in several European universities such as Universitetet I Bergen, Hogeschool van Amsterdam, Gdansk University of Technology, University of Ioannina, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Czech Technical University (Prague), Cracow University of Technology, University of Westminster (London), University of Skövde. He is a member of the European Network of Scientific Excellence in Artificial Intelligence ELLIS.
