Academic background

  • Doctora en Química
    Universidad de Alicante (14/05/1997)
  • Licenciada en Ciencias Químicas
    University Alicante (30/09/1991)

Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alicante since 2016.

Director of the Office for Undergraduate Studies, within the Office of the Vice President for Studies and Training.

Her scientific career started in the research group of lecturer Ángel Linares Solano in 1992. In 1997 she defended her doctoral thesis, undertaken in the University of Alicante’s PhD Programme in Materials Science, and received a cum laude distinction (the panel’s decision was unanimous). In 2003 she became a senior university lecturer in the area of knowledge of Inorganic Chemistry (UA).

She has four 6-year research activity periods recognised by the Spanish Committee for Research Activity Assessment (the latest one in January 2018), which demonstrates the high quality of her scientific work. She also has 66 scientific publications in international journals, most of them in the first quartile of their respective rankings and an h-index of 26 (ISI WoS), with an average of about 200 citations/year over the last five years. Co-author of 3 patents (including two PCT-registered patents), she has submitted more than 100 papers in national and international conferences and has delivered 1 guest lecture nationally and 4 internationally. Furthermore, she was a member of the scientific committees of 4 international and national conferences and worked as a guest editor in the special issue (“Diesel Soot Catalysis”) of the open-access journal Catalysts.

Throughout her career she has led several scientific projects. For instance, she has been principal investigator of a project within the European Union’s 5th Framework Programme and is currently co-PI of a National Plan Project (R&D&I, in the “Challenges” category) that is in the execution phase. Since 2009, she has acted as a technology consultant and service provider for the multinational SASOL GmbH Germany.

As a lecturer, she has five 5-year teaching activity periods and has taught several subjects (many as coordinator) in numerous official degrees: former second-cycle undergraduate degrees in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Geological Engineering, undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Geology, and Master’s Degree in Materials Science. She has supervised and directed postgraduate projects conducted by numerous students in UA Master’s degrees and doctoral programmes, including 4 doctoral theses (as director). Moreover, she has been a member of teaching committees of official degrees and 3 university teaching networks and has submitted about 10 papers in national and international conferences related to research on university teaching.

She is a member of several scientific societies: Spanish Catalysis Society (SECAT), Spanish Coal Group (GEC) and Royal Spanish Chemical Society (RSEQ). In the RSEQ, she served as Secretary of the Territorial Section (Alicante) from 2013 to 2017.

She is currently a member of SECAT’s Governing Board.
