Valentin Gangloff is a Predoctoral student of the Molecular Microbial Ecology group of the University of Alicante, directed by Dr. Josefa Antón. After finishing his Biology degree at the University of Alicante in 2018, he went to Madrid to study for a Master's degree in Microbiology at the University Autonomous of Madrid. There, he spent five months at the Astrobiology Center (CSIC -INTA) in the Molecular Evolution department for his Master's thesis. He participated in the study of microbial ecosystems present at nunataks - permanent ice-free peaks that project above an ice cap – from in Livingston Island (Antarctica). In 2020, Valentin joined the Molecular Microbial Ecology group of the University of Alicante as a Predoctoral fellow supervised by Dr. Fernando Santos Sánchez and Dr. Elena Soria Soria. He's working on the use of metagenomic's tools in the control and characterization of biofilms in drinking water distribution systems.
