Francisco José Francés García holds a PhD in Sociology (Special Award) from the University of Alicante, and he is currently a senior lecturer in the UA's Department of Sociology II, and a researcher at the Interuniversity Institute for Social Development and Peace. 

His main research lines include citizen and political participation, innovation in participatory methodologies, community planning, and social inequalities. Within these fields, significant contributions have been made through the coordination of, or participation in, a substantial number of research projects funded at the international level (European Commission, World Health Organization, among others), as well as at the national level (Centre for Sociological Research, Ministry of Science and Innovation, Ministry of Economy and Business, Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and Science, among others) and the regional level (Regional Ministry of Participation, Transparency, Cooperation and Democratic Quality, among others).

Within these research areas, he has published articles in leading journals in sociology and political science at both the national level (Revista Internacional de Sociología, Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas, Revista Española de Sociología, Papers, Gaceta Sanitaria, Prisma Social, among others) and the international level (European Sociological Review, European Political Science Review, Business and Politics, Convergencia, Children & Society, and Contemporary Politics, among others). He has also authored books and book chapters published by well-established academic publishers (Palgrave Macmillan, World Health Organization, Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas, Sistema, Dykinson, Octaedro, Fragua, among others).

He is a member of several research groups, including the Observatory of European Social Trends (OBETS) and the Research Group on Equity and Diversity (EQUIDIVERSIDAD).
