Academic background

  • Programa Oficial de Doctorado en Astrofísica
    Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (09/09/2016)

From a very young age, I had a motivation to understand stars that made me start studying physics at the University of Salamanca, and then move to the University of La Laguna, a privileged environment to learn astronomy because of its connection with the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias. After obtaining my B.Sc. in Physics at La Laguna in 2009, I moved to Madrid in order to start my graduate studentship at the Centro de Astrobiologia (CSIC-INTA). In 2011 I achieved my M.Sc. in Astrophysics at the Complutense and Autonomous Universities of Madrid. In 2016, I successfully defended my PhD thesis, entitled "Young Massive Clusters in the Infrared as Galactic Probes". Right after getting my PhD degree, I was granted the DGAPA-POSDOC fellowship by the National Autonomous University of Mexico thanks to the project I presented, "Sequential formation and early evolution of star clusters in Galactic star-forming complexes". After spending two years working on that project in the Institute of Astronomy at Ensenada (Baja California, Mexico), I went back to the Centro de Astrobiologia in order to continue my research. In 2020, my project entitled "Unveiling the obscured population of massive stars in the Milky Way through the MIRADAS spectrograph" was selected for an APOSTD grant by Generalitat Valenciana; since then, I have been working at the University of Alicante. Recently, I made a 1-year research visit at the University of Central Florida (United States) to work in fine-tuning and testing the official software of the MIRADAS/GTC multi-object spectrograph.
