JOSE CUTILLAS FERRER (Alicante 1962) is Associate Professor of Arab and Islamic Studies, and Director of the Permanent Seminar of Iranian Studies, where he teaches History of Iran and Persian Language. He has focused his research on modern Iran, especially on the Safavid dynasty, and until the 19th century. He is the author and editor of numerous publications (articles, book chapters and monographs). He has participated in several research projects on Iran, developed at the UA (IHEI Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union), and principal investigator of the MINECO project of excellence on Iranian people and communities in Spain and Portugal in the XVI-XVIII centuries. He has been guest lecturer at universities in Spain (UNED, Granada, Salamanca), Germany (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster), Portugal (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), and Iran (University of Allameh Tabatabai). He is a member of the Editorial Board of several collections and scientific journals on History of Spain and Iran (Historical Sciences Studies, Colección Historia de España y su proyección internacional). He is also a member of the advisory board of the Ibero-Safaví Council of Historical Studies (iberosafavidstudies.es).
