PhD, earned her MA and PhD degrees in Clinical Psychology and in Sciences of Education at the National University in Madrid, Spain. She is currently a Professor of differential pedagogy and inclusive education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alicante (UA), Alicante, Spain. She served as director of the PhD program “Attention to Diversity in Educational Contexts” from 2002 to 2012 directing more than 40 master and about 15 doctoral thesis dissertations. She regularly teaches classes at graduate and postgraduate level on research and diagnosis methods in education, pedagogies of difference, and inclusive education. Prior to joining the UA, she worked for more than 15 years for the Education Department of the Valencian Community as a special education teacher as well as a school psychology counselor. She has presented numerous papers and published articles, book chapters, and books in the areas of intercultural education, special/inclusive education, and teacher education for diversity. Between 2005 and 2016 she held visiting professorships at various international institutions such as the University of Texas A&M, College Station, TX; the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN; and the University of Cambridge, UK. In Spain, she served as an academic expert of the National Social Science Commission for teacher verification programs (2007-2012) and was President of the Spanish Educational Research Association (AIDIPE) representing AIDIPE in the EERA Council for the period 2011-2013. She currently directs the research group on “Diversity, Education, and Gender” integrated in the UA Interuniversity Institute of Research in Gender Studies.
