Dr Cristina Cachero is a senior lecturer at the University of Alicante’s Department of IT Languages and Systems, where she is responsible for teaching various courses in the areas of Software Engineering and Programming. Dr Cachero's main line of research is empirical software engineering and, within this, the evaluation of (a) notations, methods and techniques and (b) variables related to the human factor on the performance and preferences of the subjects involved in software development. As part of the development of this line, Dr Cachero has worked as a visiting researcher at the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy; Ghent University, Belgium; University of Montreal, Canada; and University of La Frontera, Chile. As a result of this work, Dr Cachero has co-authored publications in highly ranked journals – IEEE Multimedia, Journal of Systems and Software (JSS), Journal of Web Engineering (JWE), Empirical Software Engineering (ESE), Information and Software Technology (IST), International Journal on Intelligent Systems (IJIS), etc. – and taken part in top-level conferences in her area of research: DEXA, WISE, ER, EC-Web, ICWE, CAISE, etc. Likewise, she acts regularly as a reviewer for various journals, conferences and workshops. She has also been guest editor of some special issues in journals such as IEEE, ESE, JSS or JWE, as well as co-organiser of various workshops at international conferences, including WTA (SAC 2005), IWWUA (WISE 2008 and WISE 2009) and QWE (ICWE 2010 and ICWE 2011).
