Ignacio Ballester Pardo (Villena, Alicante, 1990) has a degree in Hispanic Philology (2008-2012) from the University of Alicante. He completed his last course at the National Autonomous University of Mexico with the Fórmula Santander Ibero-American Scholarship (2011). He also carried out the Master's Degree in Literary Studies (2012-2013) and the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching Staff (2013-2014), both at the University of Alicante. He is a Doctor of Philosophy and Letters for the thesis "The civic dimension in Mexican poetry since 1960: inheritance, tradition and renewal in the work of Vicente Quirarte", directed by the professor of Latin American Literature Carmen Alemany Bay, thanks to a predoctoral contract from the University of Alicante; receiving the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. He is a member of the Mario Benedetti Center for Ibero-American Literary Studies and the Research Seminar on Contemporary Mexican Poetry. He has participated in dozens of international conferences on poetry both in Spain and France as well as in the US and Mexico. He is the author of the book La dimensión cívica en la poesía mexicana contemporánea: herencia, tradición y renovación en la obra de Vicente Quirarte (Tirant lo Blanch / Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, 2019). His work revolves around Latin American literature, the didactics of language and literature, feminism or ecocriticism. He reflects on these lines of research every Sunday on his blog «Contemporary Mexican Poetry». He is currently an associate professor in the Department of Innovation and Didactic Training of the Faculty of Education of the University of Alicante.
