Alejandro Baeza Carratalá was born in Alicante in 1979. He obtained his degree in Chemistry (2001) at the University of Alicante. Under the guidance of Prof. Carmen Nájera and Prof. José Miguel Sansano, he obtained his M.Sc. (2003) and his PhD (2006) at the Organic Department of University of Alicante, obtaining the Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2008) and the San Alberto Magno Award (2007) for the best PhD. thesis. In 2007, thanks to a postdoctoral fellowship, he joined Prof. Andreas Pfaltz's group in Basel (Switzerland) for 3 years. After that, in 2010 he came back to the University of Alicante as Juan de la Cierva Researcher. Subsequently, he has carried out his teaching and research work as Researcher (2013), Assistant Professor (2015) and since 2020 as Senior Lecturer. His research interests are mainly focused on the development of new synthetic methodologies, especially in the field of sustainable organic chemistry and in the area of asymmetric catalysis.
