Dr. Jorge Azorín López received a degree in Computer Engineering in 2001 and a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at the University of Alicante (Spain) in 2007. Since 2001, he has been a faculty member of the Department of Computer Technology at the same university, where he is currently an Associate Professor and the Academic Secretary. He was Deputy Director of research in that department and of the University Institute of Computer Research, which has 130 researchers. Also, he is the quality coordinator of the Ph.D. program in Computer Science at UA, which currently has 115 students of which 3 are being supervised by Dr. Azorin. In the last years, he has supervised 5 Ph.D. students. His current research interests include 3D computer vision, computational intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, ambient intelligence, human activity analysis, and visual inspection. In these lines of research, Dr. Azorín has worked in 20 research projects (5 of them as coordinator) funded by national, regional, and local public and private entities. He has authored more than 100 contributions in several journals, conferences and book chapters. He has served as a reviewer to numerous scientific journals and international conferences and chair sessions in top conferences. Currently, he is an associate editor of the IJCVIP journal. He was awarded a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Education for research at the University of Edinburgh. Moreover, Dr. Azorin has been an invited professor at the CNRS Lab Hubert Curien in France since 2015 and has given invited talks in Europe and South America. He is a member of the Excellence European Society for Cognitive System (EuCognition) and associations as the International Neural Network Society (INNS) and the Spanish Society of Architecture and Computer Technology (SARTECO). Finally, he also supervised National and International projects.
