After graduating in Medicine and Surgery (1997), I secured a residency position (MIR) in Cardiology at the Alicante General University Hospital (1998–2003), where I practiced as a specialist until obtaining a permanent staff position in 2018. I served as coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Cardiac Rehabilitation Program (2007–2022) and as clinical lead for the Cardiology Department starting in 2015. Since 2025, I have served as Head of the Clinical Cardiology Section at the San Vicente General University Hospital, as part of the integration project with the Dr. Balmis General University Hospital in Alicante.
My professional career has been complemented by active involvement in scientific societies. I have held leadership roles in the Vascular Risk and Cardiac Rehabilitation Association of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and in the Valencian Society of Cardiology; within the latter, I served as secretary, president of the Clinical Cardiology Section, president-elect, and executive president (a term extending to May 2026).
In the academic sphere, I collaborated with Miguel Hernández University from 2003 to October 2026, initially as an honorary collaborator and subsequently as an associate professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine. From 2016, I was responsible for the course "Medical-Surgical Pathology of Cardiovascular Diseases." I am currently an associate professor of Health Sciences at the University of Alicante. I have supervised over 50 undergraduate theses and more than 15 master's theses, co-supervise a doctoral thesis, and have participated in the training of over 700 residents and 900 students. I have achieved an "Excellent" rating in the DOCENTIA program and have received the Teaching Talent Award on several occasions.
I hold a PhD from Miguel Hernández University (2016), with a thesis focusing on the psychological aspects of patients enrolled in cardiac rehabilitation programs. My training is complemented by postgraduate studies in clinical management, acute cardiac care, and cardiac imaging.
In the field of research, I have participated in over 30 multicenter studies as a principal investigator or collaborator, including serving as the national coordinator for the RETOSS study. I have taken part in funded competitive projects and published more than 60 scientific articles—several in first-quartile (Q1) journals—as well as consensus statements and expert documents.
I have served on editorial boards and as a reviewer for scientific journals, organized national and regional congresses, and spoken at over 130 scientific events. My accolades include various awards for teaching, research, and healthcare innovation, as well as being named an honorary member of the Valencian Society of Cardiology. I hold C1-level accreditation in Valencian and remain deeply committed to academic, teaching, and research development within the health sciences.
At the UA, I have been responsible since September 2026 for the fourth-year Medicine course MCAC (Medicine and Surgery of the Circulatory System) and serve as the coordinator for the OSCE and simulation within the Medicine degree program.
