Birth: Benidorm, Alacant, 1952.

Education: Undergraduate Degree in Arts (Hispanic Studies) from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1975, Special Award in 1976). PhD in Arts (Hispanic Studies) from the University of Alacant (UA), Special Award, in 1981. Disciple of the professors F. Rico, M. de Riquer, J. Rodríguez-Puértolas, J. Molas, J. Castellanos and J. M. Blecua Perdices, among others.

Professional activity: Professor of Catalan Studies (medieval literature) at the UA since 1996; he had joined the UA in 1980, after having been a lecturer in Spanish and Catalan medieval literature at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of València. Formerly a secondary education professor of Spanish Language and Literature and academic at the Valencian Academy of Language (2001-16).

University management positions:  First director of the UA Culture Office (1985-86) and Language Normalisation Office (1986-90). Director of the UA Department of Catalan Studies, Arab and Islamic Studies and French Studies (1990-91). First director of the UA Department of Catalan Studies (1991-98). First director of the Alacant branch of the Interuniversity Institute of Valencian Studies, supported by the universities of València, Alacant and Jaume I (1998-2001). Director of the Interuniversity Institute of Valencian Studies (2001-03).
