Full Professor. Professor of Environmental Sociology at University of Alicante (UA), Dept. of Sociology 1 of t. PhD in Sociology (UA) . M.A. in Anthropology from Louisiana State University. His research analyzes the relationship between society and environment, with special attention to the effects of tourism development processes and megaprojects (road infrastructures, dams, mines, urban developments) on the territories and their human communities. He has specialized in social impact assessments (SIA), highlighting those carried out on the Panama Canal Expansion project, on dams in the Upper Parana basin (Brazil) and in the Chilean Patagonia and a series of investigations on the impacts of tourism in the Spanish Mediterranean and the Brazilian Northeast. He has also conducted other research in the Brazilian Amazon, Peru, Yucatan, Morocco and Gambia. He is a collaborating professor at the Divisáo Científica de Gestáo, Ciéncia e Tecnología Ambiental of the University of Sao Paulo.
