My research experience is based on electrochemistry and materials science for sustainable and green energy applications. In 2022 I joined the University of Alicante as a Maria Zambrano Research Fellow to work in Na-ion and Sulfur (Li-S and Mg-S) batteries and reversible alkaline electrolysers. After obtaining my PhD in 2015, I joined Imperial College London in 2016 as a Research Associate. My research was focused on the development of new catalysts for low-temperature fuel cell-type applications. An exciting approach was the utilisation of a flexiplanar-type fuel cell to be used as a cancer biomarker (EU-funded project, Symbiotic) and the utilisation of a fuel cell type system for wastewater treatments and power generation using poison-resistant catalysts. In parallel, I was involved in the development and testing of electrodes for redox flow batteries, as well, as the study and development of new chemistries for a recent type of technology known as regenerative fuel cells or hybrid redox flow batteries. On the other hand, the most recent work was done on cathode materials development for Lithium-Sulfur batteries.

During my PhD at IREC the research was focused on artificial photosynthesis for solar fuel generation, this work was based on the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured photoanodes based on titanium dioxide for solar hydrogen production. On the other hand, some fundamental studies were done in carbon dioxide electroreduction for methane generation using copper-based cathodes in flow cell devices.
