  • Modeling of complex systems: we research in new network analysis techniques such as centrality measures, multilayer complex networks or data visualization in complex networks, among others.
  • Bioinformatics: computer-assisted drug discovery and the application of artificial intelligence techniques for the search of personalized therapies for some diseases. Application of high-performance computing in biological and chemical contexts.
  • Health informatics: use of artificial intelligence techniques, such as super-resolution, for the analysis of medical information, such as X-rays and CT scans, or biometric indicators.
  • Smart cities: use of advanced tools and technologies to investigate sustainability, efficiency and safety in urban areas. Study of the quality of life of people in the city, from the study of mobility, such as traffic or low-emission zones, to prediction with AI of local and global pollution and noise pollution.
  • Explainability in deep learning models: the group studies the integration of explainability and deep learning models, applied to problems in personalized medicine (understandable interpretations for medical professionals, facilitating clinical decision making) and sustainability (interpretations of problems in the city that improve people's quality of life).
  • Applied intelligent systems: use of artificial intelligence algorithms applied to the study of spatio-temporal phenomena such as carbon emissions or the prediction of extreme meteorological phenomena, among others.
  • High Performance Computing (HPC): implementation of solutions in complex computational processes to improve efficiency and accuracy in the analysis of data in complex networks, medical images and biological.
