Course context for academic year 2010-11
Esta asignatura pretende describir el papel relevante del fuego en los ecosistemas forestales. Se evalúan los efectos del fuego sobre la dinámica de los nutrientes y el balance hídrico, cómo repercuten sobre los diferentes horizontes edáficos y cuál es la respuesta de la vegetación a corto y largo plazo, así como sus efectos sobre la fauna. Se aporta una visión ecosistémica de la capacidad de recuperación de los ecosistemas forestales en función de la intensidad de la perturbación. Se realizan análisis de evaluación ambiental y planes de recuperación sectorial. Se aportan criterios de cómo gestionar el fuego, desde su uso tradicional hasta la vigilancia y prevención de los incendios en zonas más vulnerables. Finalmente se explican las pautas a seguir en la restauración de áreas quemadas.
