Course context for academic year 2013-14
Esta asignatura se ubica en el módulo Fundamental y dentro de él en la materia "Álgebra Lineal y Geometría". Dicha materia incluye además la asignatura "Geometría Lineal”.
Los contenidos de esta asignatura amplían los contenidos de “Álgebra Lineal I” y son básicos para el desarrollo posterior de otras materias del grado. Con esta asignatura se pretende que el alumno adquiera cierta capacidad de abstracción y de formalización de las ideas matemáticas, así como el conocimiento de conceptos y herramientas de amplia utilización en diferentes ramas de la ciencia.

Specific Competences (CE)
- CE10 : Communicate, both orally and in writing, mathematical knowledge, procedures, results and ideas.
- CE3 : Assimilate the definition of a new mathematical object in terms of others already known and be able to use said object in different contexts.
- CE5 : Propose, analyse, validate and interpret models of simple real-life situations, using the most appropriate mathematical tools for the purpose.
- CE6 : Solve mathematical problems using basic calculus skills and other techniques, planning their resolution according to the tools available and any time and resource restriction.
Specific Generic UA Competences
- CGUA1 : Understand scientific English.
- CGUA2 : Possess computer knowledge related to the field of study.
- CGUA3 : Acquire or posses basic ICT (Information and Communication technology) skills and manage the information obtained appropriately.

Ser capaz de calcular los valores y vectores propios de un endomorfismo y de utilitzarlos para obtener la forma canónica de Jordan. (CE6, CE10).
Conocer los conceptos de producto escalar y de longitud, ángulo y ortogonalidad en espacios euclídeos. (CE3, CE6, CE10).
Ser capaz de obtener bases ortonormales en un espacio euclídeo. (CE3, CE6, CE10).
Conocer los conceptos de producto hermítico y de longitud, ángulo y ortogonalidad en espacios hermíticos. (CE3, CE6, CE10).
Conocer el concepto de aplicación autoadjunta y sus propiedades tanto en espacios euclídeos como hermíticos. (CE3, CE6, CE10).
Ser capaz de encontrar la expresión matricial en distintas bases de las formas bilineales y cuadráticas. (CE6, CE10).
Saber encontrar la forma canónica de una forma cuadrática definida en un espacio euclídeo. (CE6, CE10).
Ser capaz de determinar si una forma cuadrática es definida (semidefinida) positiva o negativa y conocer sus aplicaciones. (CE6, CE10).
