Tiene como objetivo situar la asignatura en el perfil profesional, en el plan formativo del grado y su coordinación con el resto de asignaturas.
La Bioquímica es una materia de formación básica en el Grado en Óptica y Optometría. A través de ella, el futuro Graduado tendrá un conocimiento a nivel general de los tipos de biomoléculas presentes en los seres vivos, su naturaleza química y sus funciones biológicas, con referencia especial a su papel en el órgano ocular y el proceso visual. Asimismo, la Bioquímica formará al futuro Graduado en procesos biomoleculares básicos para el funcionamiento normal de las células y particulares del órgano ocular y el proceso visual.
Esta asignatura proporciona las bases para la comprensión de otras materias del Grado relacionadas con la parte biológica, patológica y terapéutica de la Óptica, que son conocimientos esenciales para un profesional de la Óptica y la Optometría, especialmente en áreas clínicas y de I+D+i
