Previously to atted to the lectures of fundamentals enginnering it is recommended that the students passed the following subjects:
Fundamentals of engineering physics I
Fundamentals of engineering physics II
Mathematics I
The course aims for students to understand the physical principles of electromagnetic waves in the specific case of the visible spectrum. It explains the basics of reflection, refraction, diffraction, interference and polarization of electromagnetic waves, and the laws inferred. On the other hand light-emitting sources, and different lighting systems will be analyzed, as well as radiometric characteristics, and its equivalent photometric and colorimetric principles, applied to different systems.
The course consists of different activities presential and non-presential. The activities are classroom lectures and practical classes and laboratory problems. In all activities both individual and group work will be conducted.
The activities of the lectures and practical problems will be conducted in the lecture room, while laboratory practical classes will be held in the Optics Laboratory located on the ground floor of the EPS III.
