The TFM is a research dissertation the aim of which is to initiate cutting-edge research within applied linguistics. and related disciplines, such as Computational Linguistics, Forensic Linguistics, Communications in the professions, Teaching Languages for Specific Purposes, and Information and Communication Technologies. The Master's dissertation can be supervised by one or more members of the Faculty.

1. To write a Master's dissertation in which the student should be able to:
1.1 Identify an original problem of research.
1.2 Review the state of the art.
1.3 Set up hypotheses or formulate research questions.
1.4 Design or choose convenient research methods.
1.5 Analyse linguistic data using both qualitative and quantitative methods and tools.
1.6 State and fully discuss the major findings.
1.7 Draw major conclusions and state further lines of research.
