Course context for academic year 2017-18

The subject, foreign language for tourism purposes, is focused on oral and written receptive and productive langage skills and on the English-Spanish translation of texts from the tourist sector. Moreover, it introduces basic contents related to research in English communication in tourism and to the importance of language in the industries of leisure and tourism.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2017-18

1. Reinforcement and revision of the English grammar and vocabulary, both related to general English and English for Tourism Purposes.
2. To acquire the contents related to:
a) the specific language of restaurants, accommodation, holidays, dwellings, etc.;
b) business correspondence related to tourism management;
3. To carry out projects focusing on the specialized language of the tourism industry;
4. To acquire the basic tools for the translation of specialized texts.
