The presence of foreign languages in current education is an indisputable fact supported by the impulse of the plurilingual education as a response to the European, national and regional guidelines. The acquisition of linguistic competence in a foreign language used as a medium of instruction and not as a particular area of study is one of the most important educational proposal of the last century, considered a basic instrumental learning. Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is a communicative methodology that allows the combination of language teaching and specific subject content. In this context, it is essential that the initial teacher training provides future teachers the opportunity to expand and consolidate their knowledge of the English language as well as know CLIL methodology and provide the appropriate teaching resources for the teaching practice. Knowledge of theoretical principles (linguistic, legislative and educational) of this methodology, analysis and experimentation of classroom resources as well as the development and exposure of a CLIL didactic unit are three of the main objectives of this subject.
This involves the mastery of the English language in formal and academic areas (B1+ level of the COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK) and training in teaching English language and literature in the educational context and for the different levels of Primary Education. Although the content of the course focuses on the teaching of the English language (as L2) the course has in mind that the teaching-learning of English language and literature occurs in the framework of plurilingual educational programs.
This course is taught in the third/fourth year of the Education Degree in Primary Education. This course provides the professional skills necessary for the training of future teachers in teaching the language and is part of the itinerary to obtain a "Capacitación" in English.

The subject aims to provide students with the knowledge of theoretical and practical principles of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology leading to the preparation of a CLIL didactic unit and lesson by students.
