Course context for academic year 2022-23

The subject of ARCHITECTURAL COMPOSITION 6 (CA6) develops a specific syllabus on theories and intervention projects in the architectural heritage (historical and modern) and culminates the subjects of the area of knowledge of the Architectural Composition (history, theory, criticism and heritage of the architecture and the city) in Degree of Fundamentals in Architecture. A conceptual and applied approach to intervention in territorial, urban and architectural heritage is proposed, understood as a disciplinary theme that can also be approached from sustainability and recycling. The legislative and urbanistic conditions in terms of protection of the architectural-urban-territorial heritage, as well as the intervention attitudes towards it, will be emphasized. In order to do so, themes of reflection such as the heritage-monument duality, cataloging documents, critical attitudes towards heritage or intervention criteria, among others, are proposed. Through this agenda, it is intended to complete the technological approach that does urban and architectural heritage from other areas of knowledge.

  • CB 1 : Que los estudiantes hayan demostrado poseer y comprender conocimientos en un área de estudio que parte de la base de la educación secundaria general, y se suele encontrar a un nivel que, si bien se apoya en libros de texto avanzados, incluye también algunos aspectos que implican conocimientos procedentes de la vanguardia de su campo de estudio.

  • CT-13 : Habilidad para la estética y la forma. Capacidad de posicionarse críticamente ante el objeto bello.

  • CT-9 : Capacidad de autocrítica. Disponer de la capacidad de autocrítica necesaria para el análisis y mejora de la calidad de un proyecto.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2022-23

The CA6 subject aims to approach the problems arising from the intervention in the existing urban and architectural heritage, which accumulates a series of commemorative and contemporary values ¿¿to represent the built memory of society. The student is provided, on the one hand, with a hermeneutical body of theories to assess the architectural heritage and, on the other hand, a working methodology is built both to assess (and catalog) and to proceed to the intervention on the various situations of the architectural heritage. historical and modern architectural heritage; It will also affect the necessary dissemination of values ¿¿through all types of circuits, including digital ones.

In this subject, the aim is for students to be able to perceive and understand the processes of temporal stratification of cities and their architectures, the passage of time and the conservation of memory and accumulated knowledge of identity, as well as the methods and tools for the valuation of the urban and architectural heritage, its protection and its intervention (restoration, rehabilitation or reuse) to prolong and revalidate its values ¿¿for future generations. Criteria and tools for the contemporary consideration of monuments and memorials are also provided. For this, the theoretical content and the learning of the same will be validated in the tests and in the practical works of study and analysis of cases, in the collection of data and research on what has been built, on proposals for the recovery of heritage works, as well as on works of cataloging (and spreading) of the patrimony, and the expositions and reflections on the actuality of monuments and memorials.
