Fundamentos de las redes de comunicación de datos. Arquitecturas de red. Sistemas y tecnologías actuales para comunicaciones de datos: funcionamiento y estándares vigentes. Técnicas, protocolos y dispositivos para la transmisión de datos. Redes de área local y redes de acceso. Redes inalámbricas. Interconexión de redes y encaminamiento. Internet.

Esta asignatura de Redes no requiere haber cursado otras asignaturas previas.

  • C12 : Understand and use the concepts of network architecture, protocols and communications interfaces.
  • C13 : Capacity to differentiate the concepts of access and transport networks, circuit and packet switching networks, fixed and mobile networks, as well as distributed network systems and applications, voice, data, audio, video, interactive and multimedia services.
  • C14 : Understand the methods for interconnecting networks and routing, as well as the fundamentals of planning, sizing networks according to traffic parameters.
  • C6 : Capacity to conceive, deploy, organise and manage telecommunications networks, systems, services and infrastructures in residential (home, urban and digital communities), business and institutional contexts, as well as understanding their economic and social impact.
  • C7 : Understand and use the basic principles of programming for telecommunication networks, systems and services.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2013-14

Proporcionar a los alumnos una visión global de las comunicaciones de datos, presentando especial atención a las arquitecturas de red OSI y TCP/IP.

Estudiar el concepto de velocidad de transmisión y su relación con el ancho de banda para poder comprender la limitación de la velocidad en el envío de datos de los medios de transmisión actuales.

Realizar una comparativa entre los diferentes medios de transmisión de datos utilizados en las comunicaciones y su uso en determinados ámbitos.

Conocer los sistemas de acceso a Internet más implantados en la actualidad. Presentar la tecnología de red local, comprender el dimensionado y enlace a otras redes, tanto locales como remotas mediante dispositivos de interconexión. Análisis de tráfico.

Ser capaz de reconocer y analizar la información que se transmite en protocolos básicos de una arquitectura TCP/IP para diferentes tipos de servicio (datos, audio, video).
