Course context for academic year 2024-25
The contribution of the subject to the professional profile of the title is based on the following aspects:
- The Basic Mathematics course is part of the core subjects in the first year, which has as main objective to develop the ability of solving simple mathematic problems that can arise in engineering. The basic character of the subject gives it a key role in the education of future engineers.
-This subject is directly related to the vast majority of asiganturas of the degree.

UA Basic Transversal Competences
- CT7 : Capacity for oral and written exposition.
- CT8 : Capacity to plan tasks and commit oneself to satisfying goals and deadlines.
- CT9 : Capacity for group work.
Specific Competences:>>Basic
- B1 : Capacity to solve any mathematical problems that may arise in engineering. Ability to apply knowledge of: linear algebra, geometry, differential geometry, differential and integral calculus, differential equations and partial derivatives, numerical methods, numerical algorithms, statistics and optimisation.
Basic Transversal Competences
- CT1 : Students should show they possess and understand knowledge in a field of study that continues from general secondary education and is usually found at a level which, although supported by advanced textbooks, also includes certain aspects that involve knowledge arising from the cutting edge of their field of study.
Specific Competences: >> Competences Common to the Telecommunications Branch
- C3 : Capacity to use computer tools to find bibliographic resources and information related to telecommunications and electronics.

1. Knowing the theoretical concepts related practical variable functions: calculate limits, derivatives and integrals and the basic concepts associated with sequences and series as well as proper use of tools Matrix Algebra.
2. Ability to solve basic mathematical problems with initiative and skill, which allows you to address specific problems applied to small specialty successfully using learned math resources.
