Course context for academic year 2023-24
“Public International Law” is a compulsory subject delivered during the second semester in year 3 of the Law Degree and the Law & Business Degree Programmes. The subject, together with Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, constitutes the Public Law block. Compulsory subject “European Union Law”, in year 4, is its sequel, to be delivered jointly by the Area of Public International Law and International Relations and the Constitutional Law Area. “Public International Law” intends to present the complexity of the international legal order, characterized by its decentralized nature unlike internal orders. The knowledge acquired through the subject enables students to carry out research, exercise the legal profession, enter the diplomatic corps or hold a position in International Organizations such as United Nations, the European Union or the Council of Europe, among others.
