Course context for academic year 2023-24

This module is based on the B2 level for the English Language (according to the Common European Reference Framework). The contents of the module are studied within the context of intercultural communication and the relationships that take place between players from different countries and cultures, both at the spoken and written level. 
The module provides awareness of the context, professional practice and activities within the sphere of International Relations, using English as a written and spoken lingua franca for communication.

Transversal Competences

  • CT1 : Capacidades informáticas e informacionales
  • CT2 : Ser capaz de comunicarse correctamente tanto de forma oral como escrita
  • CT3 : Capacidad de análisis y síntesis
  • CT4 : Capacidad de organización y planificación

 

General Competences

  • CG3 : Usar el inglés con propiedad según la terminología científica y académica propia de las relaciones internacionales
  • CG4 : Obtener y gestionar la información relativa al ámbito de las relaciones internacionales
  • CG7 : Adquirir la capacidad de aprendizaje autónomo

 

Specific Competences

  • CE18 : Comunicar en una segunda lengua internacional, a nivel oral y escrito, con razonable fluidez en situaciones de la vida cotidiana y profesional así como en ámbitos objeto de estudio.
  • CE27 : Utilizar el inglés como lengua franca en contextos internacionales.
  • CE28 : Conocer y aplicar las estrategias comunicativas y la terminología propia de las lenguas de trabajo en contextos internacionales.

  • To understand a clear and specialised discourse (technical-professional), according to the required language level.
  • To produce spontaneous (or not), clear and specialised (technical-professional) conversations and discourse, according to the required language level.
  • To interact with an average degree of fluency and spontaneity which makes regular interaction with native and non-native speakers possible in the field of international relations and taking into account the required language level.
  • To understand specialised written texts (technical-professional) in the field of international relations, according to the required language level.
  • To produce coherent and specialised written texts (technical-professional) according to the required language level.
  • To know the grammar and use the lexicon or terminology specific to international relations and interdisciplinary contexts, according to the level of language required. To develop the student's communicative competences at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in English.
  • To develop the 5 skills established in the CEFR at level B2.
