Course context for academic year 2021-22

 

La asignatura Química Computacional se imparte en el septimo semestre del módulo avanzado del plan de estudios del título de Graduado en Química. El alumnado, tras haber cursado el módulo básico, en el que ha adquirido conocimientos generales de matemáticas, física y química, puede empezar en el módulo fundamental a conocer las grandes áreas de la química. Así, después de haber cursado la asignatura Química Cuántica y Espectroscopía, en esta asignatura conocerá los modelos mecano-cuánticos y métodos teóricos más actuales y en uso, así como los programas de cálculo existentes para ello.

El alumnado será capaz de comprender los diferentes conceptos y términos que aparecen en la Química Computacional, conociendo su significado y relaccionándolos con los modelos teóricos. Aprenderá a resolver los problemas técnicos que conlleva la utilización de los programas de cálculo propios de este entorno, como son su ejecución y la búsqueda e interpretación de sus resultados, tanto con un entorno gráfico como en su ausencia.

Finalmente, el alumno estará capacitado tanto para la utilización de los programas adecuados de Química Computacional, aplicables a cualquier tipo de sistemas y propiedades, así como para la evaluación de la calidad de los resultados obtenidos. En definitiva, para realizar experimentos computacionales por uno mismo y obtener así cualquier tipo de propiedad molecular de interés que se desee.

  • CE13 : Understand the principles of quantum mechanics and its application to describing the structure and properties of atoms and molecules.
  • CE14 : Acquire the knowledge to apply and evaluate the interaction radiation-material, the principles of spectroscopy and the main techniques of structural research.
  • CE18 : Relate macroscopic properties with those of individual atoms and molecules, including macromolecules (natural and synthetic), polymers, colloids and other materials.

 

Specific Competences:>>Ability

  • CE27 : Interpret, evaluate and synthesise Chemical data and information.
  • CE29 : Process and compute data associated with chemical information.
