Course context for academic year 2018-19

La geología histórica es la rama de la geología que estudia las transformaciones que ha sufrido la Tierra desde su formación, hace unos 4.570 millones de años, hasta el presente.

La geología regional es una rama de las ciencias geológicas que se ocupa de la configuración geológica de cada continente, país, región o de zonas determinadas de la Tierra. En esta asignatura se describirá los principales rasgos geológicos de la Península Ibérica y zonas marinas adyacentes, Canarias, Europa y el Norte de África.

La asignatura Geología Histórica y Regional está relacionada con otras asignaturas de Grado como Estratigrafía, Paleontología, Sedimentología.

Nota: se aconseja tener aprobadas las siguientes asignaturas: Paleontología, Estratigrafía y Sedimentología.

  • CE1 : Acquire the fundamentals of geological terminology, nomenclature, agreements, scales and units.
  • CE10 : Use correlation techniques and interpret them.
  • CE11 : Understand the different geological processes at work on the Planet.
  • CE13 : Understand, identify and represent tectonic structures and the processes that generate them.
  • CE14 : Relate the different types of rock with their geodynamic contexts.
  • CE2 : Understand the structure and composition of the Earth.
  • CE22 : Know how to carry out basic and applied research in the different branches of Geology.
  • CE26 : Integrate field and laboratory data with theory, following a sequence of observation, synthesis and modelling.
  • CE31 : Be aware of the bibliographic resources for Geology.
  • CE7 : Understand the history of the Earth and of Life from their origins to the present day.
  • CE9 : Understand the significance of the time scale in geology, as well as the spatial scale.
