Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2020-21

Study of the English language with the objective of (1) developing a B1.1 level of communicative compentencies in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), (2) reviewing and applying compentencies obtained in secondary eduction, and (3) learning and practicing basic tools of linguistic analysis which will help students to reflect upon and aquire a more advanced and deeper knowledge of English grammar.

General Competences (CG)

  • CG1 : Capacitat d'anàlisi, síntesi i raonament crític.
  • CG4 : Capacitat de treball i lideratge en equip.
  • CG6 : Capacitat per a comprendre el paper del llenguatge en la construcció de l'ésser humà com a membre actiu d'una comunitat lingüística i cultural i relacionar-ho amb la funció de l'individu en la societat.
  • CG7 : Coneixement teòric i pràctic i apreciació de la diversitat i la multiculturalitat en l'àmbit nacional o internacional.

 

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE1 : Ser capaç de dominar instrumental i teòricament la llengua anglesa.
  • CE22 : Ser capaç de redactar textos de diferent tipus.
  • CE23 : Ser capaç de traduir textos de tipus diferents.
  • CE5 : Ser capaç d'aprendre i utilitzar de manera adequada la gramàtica de l'anglès.

Specific Competences (CE)

  • Be able to master the English language in practice and in theory.
  • Be able to translate texts of different kinds.
  • Be able to learn and use English grammar correctly.

General Competences (CG)

  • Capacity for analysis, synthesis and critical reasoning.
  • Capacity for teamwork and leadership.
  • Capacity to understand the role of language in the construction of human beings as active members of a linguistic and cultural community and relate this to the function of individuals in society.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding and appreciation of diversity and multiculturalism both nationally and internationally.

  • Be able to use basic ICT tools at user level.
