The subject is conceived as a general approach to ancient Greek culture. The subject is oriented towards the integral formation of the Humanities professional, towards the fundamental knowledge of the classical Greek legacy and its contribution to western civilization in the literary, artistic, philosophical, scientific and linguistic fields. At a methodological level, students will be encouraged to search for and select information for the development of works related to the subject and thereby further expand their knowledge.

1. Cognitive objectives • Know the origin and evolution of the Greek language and distinguish its main characteristics and phonetic, morphological, syntactic, metric and lexical units. • Know the origin and evolution of the different Greek literary genres through the texts and identify their main representatives in their historical, political, religious and cultural context. • Know the evolution of Greek art from the second millennium BC. C. until the Hellenistic period.
2. Instrumental objectives • Be able to recognize and use bibliographic and digital resources and materials pertinent to the study of the Greek language, literature and culture.
3. Attitudinal objectives • Recognize the role of the Greek language as the cultural instrument with which rational thought has been forged, as well as most of the scientific, technical and humanistic disciplines. • Appreciate the Hellenic cultural heritage and its survival in Western culture, in literature and the arts.
