Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2015-16

- To introduce students to the various traditions of linguistics applied to the teaching of English as a foreign language;
- To inculcate an understanding of the classroom as a communicative situation;
- To emphasize the importance of using English as means of communication in the EFL classroom;
- To help students relate linguistic, discourse analytic and sociolinguistic concepts to teaching objectives and teaching activities;
- To provide structured information and practice on teaching techniques that enhance pupils communicative skills and expand their syntactic and lexical repertoire;
- To guide students through selected readings on the subject;
-  To practice and stress the importance of teaching English THROUGH English.
