Course context for academic year 2024-25

The main objective of this subject is the acquisition of the B2 level in the CEFR in both oral and written communication in tourism contexts, especially the main emphasis is on productive skills.

In this 3rd semester of English, a major relevance is given to B2B communication. Therefore, the subject introduces a variety of business genres typical of the tourist sector, for instance: reports, business letters, contracts, insurances, terms & conditions, business discussions and meetings, presentations, job interviews, etc.

General Competences acquired at University of Alicante (CGUA)

  • CGUA1 : Comprendre i expressar-se en un idioma estranger en l'àmbit de la seua disciplina.
  • CGUA2 : Ser capaç d'utilitzar com a usuari eines bàsiques en TIC.
  • CGUA4 : Ser capaç de comprometre's èticament amb la sostenibilitat, els drets fonamentals, la igualtat entre homes i dones, els principis d'igualtat d'oportunitats i accessibilitat universal de les persones amb discapacitat, així com els valors propis d'una cultura de la pau i de valors democràtics.

  • CE1 : Comprendre els principis del turisme, la seua dimensió espacial, social, cultural, jurídica, política, laboral i econòmica.
  • CE13 : Manejar tècniques de comunicació.
  • CE15 : Treballar en anglès com a llengua estrangera.
  • CE16 : Comunicar-se oralment i per escrit en una segona llengua estrangera.
  • CE24 : Analitzar i utilitzar les tecnologies de la informació i les comunicacions (TIC) en els diferents àmbits del sector turístic.
  • CE29 : Treballar en mitjans socioculturals diferents.
