Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2015-16

- To introduce students to the methods, terminology and main findings of micro-sociolinguistics, a central area of the wider field of sociolinguistics dealing with language use in social contexts, that is, discourse. - To inculcate an appreciation of two basic dimensions of discourse: a) conveying content and describing a reality; b) performing social actions, constructing a reality. - To guide students through selected readings on the subject, and prepare them to design small investigations.
