Course context for academic year 2021-22

La Geografía social y de la población es una asignatura que analiza e interrelaciona los principales procesos sociales, poblacionales y territoriales contemporáneos así como sus diversos impactos a escala local, regional y global.

Se trata de una asignatura obligatoria que se imparte en tercer curso del grado en Humanidades como parte del módulo dedicado a mundo actual y patrimonio. Como tal, la asignatura está relacionada con las materias de antropología social, historia contemporánea y geografía humana o regional que se imparten en el grado y muy en especial con la Introducción a la geografía humana de primer curso.

La asignatura ofrece herramientas para analizar y entender la evolución de la sociedad, la población y el territorio en la actualidad. Se adapta por ello tanto al perfil de formación humanística que busca una parte de los estudiantes de Humanidades como a los perfiles profesionales del grado: el docente y el orientado a la gestión y difusión cultural.

Specific Competences (CE)

  • CE1 : Understand human behaviour in society using specific methods and techniques of analysis and, in this way, develop the ethical commitment to gender equality and a special capacity for interpersonal relationships.
  • CE4 : Understand contemporary territorial, socioeconomic, political and cultural reality, national and international, to interpret and transmit one's view of the modern world in critical fashion particularly the process of European integration, as well as the shaping of the Spanish state and its impact on the world.
  • CE6 : Understand and assess indigenous cultural and natural heritage resources to contribute towards the sensitive management of sustainable development with a critical approach.
