Competencies and objectives

 

Course context for academic year 2019-20

La Biología del Desarrollo, es una materia esencial para adentrarse en el conocimiento de la ontogenia y de los ciclos vitales de los organismos, especialmente de los metazoos. Es una disciplina imprescindible para la formación y proyección profesional de los biólogos, especialmente en el ámbito sanitario (medicina y biología reproductiva, fertilización “in vitro”, etc.) y biotecnológico (medicina reparativa y regenerativa, ingeniería tisular, etc.)

Adecuación al perfil profesional: el estudio de la Biología del Desarrollo proporcionará al alumno la formación que para alcanzar las competencias recogidas tanto en el Libro Blanco de los estudios de Biología (http://www.aneca.es/media/150328/libroblanco_biologia_def.pdf) como en la Ficha Técnica de Propuesta de grado del RD 55/2005, de 21 de enero (http://www.unizar.es/eees/doc/Ficha%20grado%20BIOLOGIA.pdf) y son las que puede desempeñar el Biólogo en su actividad profesional:

(1) Realizar estudios sobre la organización, clasificación, identificación e investigación de los seres vivos, así como sus restos y señales de su actividad

(2) Capacita para acceder a la formación de determinadas especialidades de Ciencias de la Salud que le permitan realizar actividades de: consejo genético y planificación familiar, embriología humana, educación sanitaria y medioambiental, análisis clínicos, bioquímica clínica, inmunología, microbiología y parasitología, etc.

(3) Enseñanza de la Biología en los términos establecidos por la legislación educativa.

(4) Asesoramiento científico y técnico sobre temas biológicos.

Adecuación al perfil académico: La Biología del Desarrollo es fundamental en los estudios de Biología, por ser una disciplina fundamental de la Biología moderna, debido al alto impacto que el estudio del desarrollo de los organismos animales, incluido el hombre, posee tanto social como económicamente, en el mundo actúal, a saber: Medicina y Biología Reproductiva (Reproducción asistida, uso médico de “Stem cells”, etc.), Medicina Veterinaria y Agropecuaria, Medicina Regenerativa y Reparativa, Ingeniería tisular, etc.

  • CE10 : Understand the fundamentals of the regulation of vital functions of organisms through internal and external factors and identify mechanisms for adapting to the environment.
  • CE13 : Study the structure and function of biomolecules and understand their function in biological processes.
  • CE14 : Understand the fundamentals of replication, transcription, translation and modification of genetic material.
  • CE15 : Identify the main metabolic pathways.
  • CE16 : Understand cell signalling mechanisms.
  • CE18 : Analyse the structure and functions of animal and plant viruses, cells, tissues, organs and systems.
  • CE19 : Study animal and plant anatomy and morphology.
  • CE20 : Understand the basic principles of immunity in living beings.
  • CE21 : Isolate, cultivate and modify microorganisms, cells and tissue of pluricellular organisms.
  • CE22 : Analyse and interpret the development, growth and biological cycles of living beings.
  • CE4 : Recognise different levels of organisation in living systems.
  • CE5 : Understand the concept of life and know its origin and history, together with that of the Earth.
  • CE6 : Understand the mechanisms of heredity and foundations of genetic improvement.
  • CE7 : Understand evolutionary mechanisms and models.
  • CE8 : Understand and know the genetic foundations of diversity.
  • CE9 : Identify organisms and interpret the diversity of species in the environment, as well as their origin, evolution and behaviour.

  • CE29 : Show knowledge and understanding of the essential facts, concepts, principles and theories related to the areas of Biology.
  • CE30 : Interpret, evaluate, process and synthesis Biological data and information.
  • CE31 : Recognise and implement good scientific practices for measurement and experimentation.
  • CE32 : Safe handling: biological material, reagents, instruments and devices used in Biology.
  • CE33 : Carry out standard laboratory procedures involved in analytical tasks.
  • CE35 : Interpret data gathered from observation and measurement in the laboratory and the field.
  • CE36 : Prepare, present and defend scientific and technical reports both in writing and orally to an audience.
  • CE37 : Ability to find, analyse, understand and write scientific and technical texts.
  • CE38 : Use inductive and deductive methods correctly in the field of Biology.
  • CE39 : Recognise and evaluate biological processes in daily life.
  • CE40 : Relate Biology to other disciplines.
  • CE41 : Acquire the ability to direct, advise, design and execute biological process projects and studies.
  • CE45 : Carry out biological biotests and diagnoses.
  • CE46 : Design biological models.
