Course context for academic year 2019-20

 

La Estadística es una herramienta básica para el estudio de las ciencias experimentales. Su impartición en el primer curso del grado de Biología y Ciencias del Mar va a permitir al alumnado enfrentarse a la resolución de problemas de asignaturas posteriores en los que ineludiblemente se manejarán datos experimentales. Es fundamental que el alumnado entienda desde el inicio la importancia de conocer la naturaleza de los datos y los posible análisis que pueden realizar para poder extraer la información de los mismos.

DEGREE IN BIOLOGY

  • CE31 : Recognise and implement good scientific practices for measurement and experimentation.
  • CE34 : Plan, design and execute practical research studies, evaluating the results.
  • CE35 : Interpret data gathered from observation and measurement in the laboratory and the field.
  • CE36 : Prepare, present and defend scientific and technical reports both in writing and orally to an audience.
  • CE37 : Ability to find, analyse, understand and write scientific and technical texts.
  • CE40 : Relate Biology to other disciplines.
  • CE41 : Acquire the ability to direct, advise, design and execute biological process projects and studies.
  • CE48 : Evaluate environmental impact.

 

Generic UA Competences

  • CGUA2 : Express oneself correctly, both orally and in writing, in either of the official languages of the Region of Valencia.
  • CGUA3 : Possess computer knowledge appropriate to the field of study.

 

DEGREE IN MARINE SCIENCES

 

Specific Competences:>>Theoretical

  • CE14 : Acquire knowledge of the different fields of application (resources, planning and management, infrastructures, etc.) of the marine sciences.
  • CE5 : Acquire a basic understanding of mathematics (algebra and calculus) and statistics.

 

Specific Competences:>> Ability

  • CE20 : Show knowledge and understanding of inductive and deductive methods, the elaboration of hypotheses and experimental design.
  • CE30 : Be able to carry out standard sampling procedures related to research tasks in the sea and in the laboratory.
  • CE31 : Prepare, present and defend scientific texts and reports both in writing and orally to an audience.
  • CE32 : Recognise and analyse new marine science problems, as well as those of other sciences, and plan strategies for action.
