This course is aimed to introduce the concepts and implications of the third dimension in organic molecules to the student who has previously attended the Organic Chemistry course. The student will consolidate the description and depicting of the three-dimensional structures of simple organic molecules; the physical and chemical properties of organic compounds will be justified on the basis of space considerations. In this subject, special attention will be paid to the organic chemistry transformations that imply the transmission of chiral information; the theories that govern these reactions will be also introduced to the student. Finally, all the aforementioned concepts will be applied to the synthesis of natural or biologically interesting products.

To know the main types of chemical reactions and to explain the observed stereochemistry through the different models studied (CE4).
To identify and analyze new problems related to the stereochemistry and to propose strategies to solve them (CE26).
To identify and assess the stereochemistry in biochemical processes involved in the daily life (CE39) as well as to relate this branch of chemistry to other disciplines (CE40).
