Course context for academic year 2023-24
The contents covered in the subject of Acoustic Transducers are a part of the conceptual basis
that give support to other subjects of the Intensification of Acoustics in the curriculum. It
is focused taking into special consideration the subject Acoustics, which develops parallel to
Optics in the Second Course, and the fact that there is a subject so called Acoustic Conditioning
and Isolation in the Third Course and a complete intensification devoted to Acoustics in the
subsequent courses. It relies on electro-mechanical-acoustic analogies and uses experimental
tools and techniques to bring together different issues.

- B3 : Understanding and mastery of the basic concepts of the general laws of mechanics, thermodynamics, fields and waves and electromagnetism and their application to the resolution of engineering problems.
Basic Transversal Competences
- CT1 : Students should show they possess and understand knowledge in a field of study that continues from general secondary education and is usually found at a level which, although supported by advanced textbooks, also includes certain aspects that involve knowledge arising from the cutting edge of their field of study.
- CT2 : Students should know how to apply their knowledge to their job or vocation in a professional manner and should possess those skills that are usually reflected when preparing and defending arguments and solving problems in their field of study.
- CT3 : That students have the ability to gather and interpret relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues.

- C1 : Capacity for self-learning of new knowledge and techniques appropriate for the conception, development and exploitation of telecommunications systems and services.
- C3 : Capacity to use computer tools to find bibliographic resources and information related to telecommunications and electronics.
- C8 : Capacity to understand the mechanisms for propagating and transmitting electromagnetic and acoustic waves, and their corresponding transmitting and receiving devices.

- E3 : Capacity to carry out projects for premises and facilities intended for producing and recording audio and video signals.
- E4 : Capacity to carry out acoustic engineering projects on: Insulation and acoustic preparation of premises, Public address installations, Specification, analysis and selection of electroacoustic transducers, Systems for the measurement, analysis and control of noise and vibration, Environmental acoustics, Underwater acoustic systems.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2023-24
- Application of the parameters that characterize the acoustic transducers (microphones and loudspeakers).
- Assimilation of the necessary analytical and numerical techniques, including those based on the representation
with equivalent circuits, to determine the main characteristics of transducers, being these the most used in the
field of engineering related to sound and image technologies.
- Application of the experimental techniques necessary to characterize different types of microphones and loudspeakers.
- To obtain the performance and sensitivity of the electrostatic, piezoelectric and electrodynamic transducers from
their equivalent circuit representation.
