Course context for academic year 2013-14

          La asignatura Psicópatas y Asesinos Múltiples tiene como propósito fundamental ofrecer una respuesta científica, sistemática y estructurada al enorme interés que ha despertado la figura del psicópata en la Psicología Criminológica contemporánea, como consecuencia de la destructividad (potencial y manifiesta) que caracteriza la conducta de algunos psicópatas y multicidas. Para ello se describen y analizan los principales resultados y conclusiones de la investigación psicocriminológica sobre el funcionamiento del cerebro de los psicópatas, así como los instrumentos de medida que son más utilizados en evaluación psicopática y el relevante papel que juegan las emociones en el comportamiento psicopático y violento en general.

          Para profundizar en la naturaleza, las causas y el alcance de la psicopatía, la asignatura establece un temario que pone énfasis en el impacto que la psicopatía y el asesinato múltiple produce en la comunidad social, como forma extrema de comportamiento violento, profundizando en la sinergia que se produce entre ambos. Para finalizar, la asignatura Psicópatas y Asesinos Múltiples introduce el análisis y reflexión sobre la plasticidad de la denominada psicopatía social y de cuello blanco, como nuevas formas emergentes de manifestación del trastorno en entornos  sociales  normalizados y estructuras organizativas y de poder.

  • CE1 : Be able to describe fundamental concepts in the fields of psychology, sociology, law and natural sciences that are needed to provide a global analysis of criminal phenomena and deviation.
  • CE10 : Be able to explain and summarise empirical information and results of research into crime, victimisation and response to crime and deviation, and evaluate the methodology used (identify which methodology is the most appropriate, its ethical principles, results, etc.).
  • CE11 : Be able to draft a criminological report.
  • CE2 : Be able to describe the fundamental theoretical approaches to criminal acts, victimisation and responses to crime and deviation.
  • CE4 : Be able to describe and evaluate social and political processes of victimisation and criminalisation in the light of criminological theories (dynamics existing between the victim, crime, deviant conduct and the main agents and institutions related to the response to criminal acts and deviation).
  • CE5 : Be able to provide an analytical explanation of diversity and social inequality, as well as its consequences relating to criminal acts, victimisation and responses to crime and deviation.
  • CE8 : Be able to argue and describe different points of view and debate them in a logical and coherent manner and present conclusions in an appropriate academic format when dealing with questions of criminal policy, victimisation, criminalisation and responses to crime and deviation as well as on the perception and interpretation of the same by the communications media, public opinion and official reports.
  • CE9 : Be able to create prevention strategies in the fields of criminology, victimology and marginalisation, etc., guaranteeing public safety, fundamental rights and the solution of social problems.

- Conocer la aproximación científica del objeto de estudio de la psicopatía.

- Conocer los determinantes psicológicos del comportamiento y el perfil del psicópata.

- Conocer los descubrimientos acerca del funcionamiento del cerebro de los criminales psicópatas.

- Identificar y discriminar las características de la psicopatía, el asesino en serie y el trastorno sádico de la personalidad.

- Conocer las líneas básicas de investigación criminológica sobre la psicopatía y los asesinos múltiples.

- Desarrollar una actitud científica, analítica, crítica y reflexiva sobre la psicopatía y el asesinato múltiple, así como sobre las herramientas e intervenciones desarrolladas en materia de Criminología científica.
