Course context for academic year 2026-27
This subject is part of a subject that intend the student applies, in a real situation, in the clinical and community context, the theoretical and practical contents acquired and developed in the classroom.
In this way, Practicum II: Community Nursing II is linked to the Practicum prior to this and subsequent ones. So that the practice is acquired from observation to execution and from health to illness.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2026-27
The specific objectives of the professor are framed within the following blocks:
• Procedures in Community Nursing. At a minimum: Collection and sampling of specimens, INR determination using capillary blood, administration of medications (except parenteral route). The following will also be considered, if carried out: Mantoux test determination, administration and monitoring of immunotherapy: childhood, adult, and desensitization vaccines.
• Health promotion and health education (EpS) activities in adults. Prevention activities for the most prevalent health problems in Primary Care. At a minimum: Prevention of influenza in at-risk populations, prevention of cardiovascular risk factors, prevention of tetanus, prevention of cancer risk factors. The following will also be considered, if carried out: Prevention of hepatitis B in individuals with risk behaviors, prevention of risk behaviors (traffic, alcohol, etc.).
• Monitoring and follow-up activities for health problems. At a minimum: Care for individuals with sedentary lifestyles, care for individuals who are overweight or underweight, care for tobacco users or those with other toxic habits, care for common symptoms such as fever…, information and advice on common diseases, prevention of potential complications in individuals with hypertension, prevention of potential complications in individuals with diabetes, prevention of potential complications in individuals on oral anticoagulation. The following will also be considered, if carried out: Care for individuals with any other situation requiring attention in Primary Health Care.
• Home care. At a minimum: Home assessment of the patient, their caregivers, and their environment, as well as prevention of skin alterations. Detection of pressure ulcer risk, prevention of falls, trauma and injuries, prevention of nutrition and hydration problems. The following will also be considered, if carried out: Any other home care activity.
• Activities related to community health diagnosis. Analysis and planning for the implementation of programs, actions, and activities related to community health: Identification of needs, prioritization of identified needs, planning of a community intervention program, and program evaluation.
• Other community-based activities. Collaboration and advisory support to teaching staff. Direct intervention in educational centers, as well as activities with students’ families. Care for the population in their closest and usual environment, and other community interventions.
