Competencies and objectives
Course context for academic year 2026-27
The objective of creating plurilingual and intercultural speakers can only be achieved through a teaching approach centered on the learner as a social agent. Leaving behind the limitations posed by the concept of communicative competence, language teaching must be viewed as part of Education -with a capital “E”- contributing to the formation of critical citizens. This involves paying attention to motivation and other affective elements and fostering autonomy, key for the development of the learner´s general and linguistic competences. In order to do so, we will need teachers who can reflect on their teaching practice and play the roles reality demands of them: guides, motivators and, above all, educators.
