Course context for academic year 2025-26

La asignatura "Métodos y técnicas de la investigación en ciencias sociales" tiene como finalidad dotar al estudiante de los conocimientos teóricos y las habilidades metodológicas necesarias para llevar a cabo investigaciones rigurosas en el campo de las ciencias sociales. A través de una reflexión crítica sobre los fundamentos epistemológicos de la investigación, esta materia acompaña al alumnado en todo el proceso metodológico, desde la identificación del problema de investigación hasta la interpretación de los resultados, teniendo en cuenta las particularidades sociales, históricas y culturales de América Latina.

El programa aborda el empleo de fuentes secundarias de información y el manejo de técnicas tanto cuantitativas como cualitativas, poniendo especial atención a la adecuación de los métodos a los objetos de estudio. También se incorporan técnicas dialécticas orientadas a promover el cambio social, reconociendo que el conocimiento tiene un papel activo en los procesos de transformación social. La asignatura fomenta un análisis riguroso y ético de los fenómenos sociales, valorando tanto la complejidad de los contextos investigados como la responsabilidad del investigador, destacando la importancia de las ciencias sociales y humanas en el diálogo entre disciplinas y promoviendo una visión integral que facilite entender los desafíos actuales desde diversas perspectivas y enfoques contextuales.

La materia constituye un componente clave en la formación investigadora de los estudiantes en el marco del Máster Universitario en Estudios Políticos, Económicos y Sociales Contemporáneos de América Latina, sirviendo como base para sus trabajos finales de máster, así como para el desarrollo de otros proyectos y trabajos durante el mismo que impliquen la aplicación de técnicas de investigación social.
