Course context for academic year 2025-26

La Asignatura “Conceptos Básicos del Desarrollo” proporciona conocimientos esenciales sobre las dinámicas de empobrecimiento, desarrollo y desigualdad en el marco de los procesos económicos y políticos contemporáneos. Para ello, se procederá al estudio panorámico de la situación económica internacional a un nivel global, junto a algunas de las más importantes dinámicas sociales que se derivan, analizando algunos de los procesos subyacentes. Para poder comprender la vinculación entre los procesos de desarrollo, la sostenibilidad medioambiental y social, se analizará el concepto de desarrollo humano y sostenible junto a sus indicadores comprensivos. Para finalizar, se descenderá al estudio del concepto y las estrategias del desarrollo local, desde una dimensión comunitaria, para analizar diferentes modelos de intervención para la inclusión social.

Para ello, la asignatura abordará las siguientes materias:

• Conceptos básicos de desarrollo (3 ECTS): Concepto de Desarrollo. Teorías del Desarrollo. Globalización, cooperación y cambio social. Desarrollo, desigualdad y pobreza.
• Panorámica de la situación internacional (3 ECTS): Visión del sistema-mundo. Problemas y desafíos. Aproximación a la realidad socio-política y socio-económica en: África, Magreb y mundo árabe, América Latina y Asia.
• Desarrollo Humano y Sostenible (3 ECTS): Concepto de Desarrollo Humano. Enfoque de Capacidades. Indicadores de Desarrollo Humano. Concepto de Desarrollo Sostenible. Una visión integral. Indicadores de Desarrollo Sostenible.
• Desarrollo Local. Estrategias y modelos de intervención (3 ECTS): Desarrollo comunitario. Políticas de inclusión social. Participación comunitaria en el desarrollo local. Investigación y Promoción del desarrollo local.

  • HAB01 : Apply criteria of analysis of the economic, political and eco-social reality in which the approaches and problems of development cooperation are inserted.
  • HAB02 : Critically analyse the theories and approaches to development that perpetuate unjust models that are at the root of inequality and poverty.
  • HAB08 : Apply teamwork based on fluid adaptation, respect for intercultural contexts and the management of multicultural groups and marginalised communities (SDG 11).
  • HAB09 : Develop a spirit and attitude of solidarity and service.
  • HAB10 : Communicate knowledge and ultimate reasons to specialist and non-specialist audiences in a clear and unambiguous way.

 

Conocimientos/Contenidos

  • CON01 : Identify the economic, social and political forces that explain and cause the existence of poverty, inequality and the eco-social crisis, as well as the specific problems of nations and territories in need of development.
  • CON02 : Understand the practical implications and strategies of the concept of development cooperation, from a historical perspective.
  • CON03 : Know basic aspects of the empirical reality of the subject and target countries of development cooperation.
  • CON05 : Explain the practical and strategic implications of the concepts of gender, feminism, sustainable development and community development.
  • CON06 : Understand basic aspects of transversal areas of cooperation such as: human rights, global health, gender perspective and environmental sustainability.
  • CON08 : Understand alternative theories of development and post-developmentalist approaches that contribute elements of social, environmental and human rights justice, as well as a decolonial and transitional perspective.

 

Skills/Competences

  • COMP01 : Apply the theoretical knowledge acquired throughout the course in any research or intervention work in the field of development cooperation.
  • COMP02 : Identify needs and successfully prioritise actions in the field of development cooperation.
  • COMP05 : Use advanced techniques to search for, organise, systematise, enhance and evaluate information in vulnerable and unstructured contexts in need of informed development policies.
  • COMP08 : Analyse cooperation problems from a local and global perspective, taking the SDGs and their democratic values as a frame of reference.
  • COMP10 : Participate in public and private bodies (administrations, specialised agencies, NGDOs and civil society organisations, research institutes and universities, social economy organisations, etc.) at local, national and international level as professionals or researchers in the field of development cooperation. Integrate the management of multilevel and relational administrative governance in development projects with a territorial, democratic and global citizenship perspective in accordance with the SDGs in general and, especially, with SDGs 16 and 17.
  • COMP11 : Defend in public the results of research work in the framework of development cooperation.
  • CT01 : Contribute to the design, development and implementation of solutions that respond to social demands, taking into account the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • CT02 : Demonstrate critical and self-critical reasoning in the field of the degree, considering aspects such as professional ethics, moral values and the social implications of the different activities carried out.
  • CT03 : Collaborate effectively in work teams, assuming responsibilities and leadership roles and contributing to collective improvement and development.
  • CT04 : Act with autonomy in learning, making informed decisions in different contexts, making judgements based on experimentation and analysis and transferring knowledge to new situations.
  • CT05 : Knowing how to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, adapting to the characteristics of the situation and the audience.
  • CT06 : Propose creative and innovative solutions to complex situations or problems, specific to the field of knowledge, in order to respond to different professional and social needs.
  • CT07 : Know and understand, from within the field of the degree, the inequalities due to sex and gender in society; integrate the different needs and preferences due to sex and gender in the design of solutions and problem solving.
