Course context for academic year 2025-26
La salud visual en el entorno laboral constituye un ámbito prioritario dentro de la prevención de riesgos laborales. Los profesionales sanitarios implicados en la prevención de riesgos laborales. entre ellos los ópticos-optometristas, no solo desarrollan funciones clínicas específicas, sino que también desempeñan un papel clave en la vigilancia de la salud de las personas trabajadoras. Su intervención proporciona herramientas fundamentales para la identificación, evaluación y seguimiento de los riesgos visuales, permitiendo detectar precozmente alteraciones funcionales o estructurales derivadas de la actividad laboral. Esta labor resulta imprescindible para el diseño e implementación de estrategias preventivas eficaces, dentro de un enfoque necesariamente multidisciplinar e integrado con el resto de especialidades en materia de salud y seguridad en el trabajo. En este contexto, la asignatura “Salud visual de las personas trabajadoras: aspectos preventivos, diagnósticos y terapéuticos” ofrece al óptico-optometrista una visión especializada y actualizada para afrontar estos retos, reforzando su capacidad para actuar de forma proactiva en la protección de la salud visual en el entorno laboral.

Learning outcomes (Training objectives)
1. Identify ocular and visual risk factors in the workplace.
2. Explain the mechanisms of the appearance of visual problems in relation to occupational risk factors.
3. Know the regulations related to eye protection and visual performance, as well as the systems of notification of work accidents and occupational diseases.
4. Knowing the specific problems of sensitive workers: the elderly, contact lens users, workers with specific visual pathologies, among others.
5. Know the principles of health surveillance for its application to occupational hazards with effects on visual health.
