Course context for academic year 2025-26

Se trata de ofrecer al futuro profesional las claves para entender los diferentes elementos que han permitido configurar el saber y la práctica médica. La influencia de elementos no estrictamente médicos (sociales, culturales, económicos, políticos, etc.) en el desarrollo de los conocimientos de la medicina o en su práctica, obliga al estudio y el conocimiento de este tipo de factores. La historia de la medicina, en el contexto de la historia de la ciencia y la incorporación de recursos conceptuales y metodológicos provenientes de otras ciencias sociales, permite tomarlos en consideración, ayuda a entender cómo ha estado presente la enfermedad en todas las colectividades humanas, cómo ha variado la patología en función de los cambios en las formas de vida de las mismas, o cómo han intentado los diferentes grupos humanos conservar la salud y luchar contra las enfermedades. Se trata de una disciplina, y en particular el enfoque de la historia social de la medicina, que permite integrar el binomio salud-enfermedad en los diferentes contextos económicos, sociales, políticos, culturales, etc., en los que vivieron nuestros antepasados, y aportar elementos de reflexión (las lecciones de la historia) que ayuden a abordar la complejidad que está alcanzando la medicina y su ejercicio y los retos a los que tiene que hacer frente. Las estrategias didácticas y la planificación docente de la asignatura están basada en el análisis de problemas y de las grandes cuestiones que interesan a la medicina y al ejercicio médico, tanto en sus aspectos teóricos como prácticos. Se trata de considerar, con la ayuda del método histórico, a la medicina en toda su complejidad y ofrecer al estudiante una mirada unitaria de los conocimientos y las prácticas que la conforman, tanto en su dimensión científica, como social y cultural. Junto a clases teóricas que aportaran, desde la perspectiva histórica, una visión de conjunto de los grandes problemas conceptuales y metodológicos de la ciencia y la práctica médica, se desarrollaran diversos seminarios teórico-prácticos que profundizarán en el análisis particular de los mismos a través de la discusión de textos y vídeos didácticos, grupos de debate, presentaciones y redacción de micro ensayos. El abordaje de los contenidos teóricos, se complementará con lecciones online accesibles para ser visualizadas a demanda, materiales didácticos de apoyo y recomendaciones bibliográficas. Además, en línea con la pedagogía por objetivos, se propondrán para cada una de las unidades que conforman el programa, aquellas cuestiones que el alumno/a debería ser capaz de resolver y que serán objeto de evaluación en el examen final. Así mismo, desde su condición de asignatura de carácter introductorio al Grado, los contenidos prácticos buscan familiarizar al alumno con la documentación médica. Se abordará la terminología de las ciencias de la salud, el proceso de comunicación científica, la elaboración del trabajo científico, el acceso a las fuentes de información médica y los aspectos básicos de la documentación clínica: la historia clínica, como expresión documental del acto clínico, y los sistemas de información clínica.
