Course context for academic year 2025-26

The objective of creating plurilingual and intercultural speakers can only be achieved through a teaching approach centered on the learner as a social agent. Leaving behind the limitations posed by the concept of communicative competence, language teaching is part of Education, with a capital “E”, contributing to the formation of critical citizens. The development of the communicative competence of the learner,  their autonomy as language learners and intercultural speakers. In order to do so, we will need teachers who particpate in continuing education, who can reflect on their teaching practice and play the roles reality demands of them: guides, motivators and, more than anything else, educators.

  • CE1 : Conèixer el valor formatiu i cultural de les matèries corresponents a l'especialització.
  • CE10 : Conèixer estratègies i tècniques d'avaluació i entendre l'avaluació com un instrument de regulació i estímul de l'esforç.
  • CE11 : Conèixer i aplicar propostes docents innovadores en l'àmbit de l'especialització cursada.
  • CE12 : Analitzar críticament l'exercici de la docència, de les bones pràctiques i de l'orientació utilitzant indicadors de qualitat.
  • CE13 : Identificar els problemes relatius a l'ensenyament i l'aprenentatge de les matèries de l'especialització i plantejar alternatives i solucions.

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2025-26

  • To recognize and take into account the particularities of teaching/learning a foreign language/additional language in secondary school and its methodological implications.
  • To understand and apply the main characteristics of methods and approaches in the teaching of additional languages.
  • To differentiate and use techniques and strategies for the development of competences deployed in communicative language activities: reception, production, interaction and mediation, both oral and written.
  • To be familiar with the curriculum of the foreign language subject in the Valencian Community, within the Spanish educational system.
  • To Organize and make the necessary decisions for the design and management of English language classes, including class management, grouping, inclusion and group/class motivation.
  • To be familiar with and apply various types of assessment in the L2/EFL/EAL classroom.
  • To select and use appropriate resources and materials for the English language classroom.
  • To foster a climate that facilitates learning and values student contributions.
  • To select, analyze, and teach literary texts in the English language.
  • To select, create and use audiovisual resources and techniques in English language teaching.
  • To develop metacognitive strategies in English language teaching.
