Competencies and objectives

Course context for academic year 2024-25

The tall consumption of energy of the edifices is a world-wide problem, and the application of politics that promote measured of improvement of the energetic performance is a challenge. The European Union (EU) has assumed a paper of leadership in this field, implementing managerial and funding diverse projects of investigation and innovation in energetic efficiency (Project SP-0165/CEENEREPC [6], EPLABEL [7], ENPER EXIST [8], SHARE [9], ASIEPI [10], RentalCal [11], RESPOND [12], CRREM [13], among others).

In Spain, these managerial are the result of the application of a series of decrees that in the actuality establish the need to make Edifices of Consumption Almost Invalid (ECCN).

This subject engloba the necessary normative requirements to be able to design and execute ECCN. As well as the application of said normative for the comprobación and justification of said requirements. With this span key elements to the hour to work in the professional field.

Course competencies (verified by ANECA in official undergraduate and Master’s degrees) for academic year 2024-25

Transversal Competences

  • CT1 : Demonstrate computer and informational skills in the field of new technologies in building construction.
  • CT2 : Demonstrate skills in oral and written communication.
  • CT3 : Demonstrate the ability to lead studies related to savings and energy efficiency in buildings.

General Competences

  • CG2 : Ability to acquire and manage information related to energy efficiency, including scientific and technical literature, manuals, technical documentation, and energy indicators.
  • CG5 : Analyze and structure the energy behavior of buildings, evaluating, rationalizing, and comparing results to make informed decisions.
  • CG6 : Attain the capacity to collaborate on joint projects with experts in the environmental and energy fields, promoting efficient energy usage, proposing improvements meeting required quality standards, and complying with applicable regulations.

Specific Competences

  • CE3 : Analyze the basic concepts of energy and building facilities defined as nZEB (nearly Zero-Energy Buildings).
  • CE4 : Analyze and develop Bioclimatic, Sustainable, and Energy Efficiency techniques in Architectural Projects.

Basic Competences

  • CB10 : That students possess the learning skills that allow them to continue studying in a way that will be largely self-directed or autonomous.
  • CB6 : Possess and understand knowledge that provides a basis or opportunity to be original in the development and/or application of ideas, often in a research context
  • CB7 : That students know how to apply the knowledge acquired and their ability to solve problems in new or little-known environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of ¿¿study
  • CB8 : Students are able to integrate knowledge and deal with the complexity of making judgements on the basis of incomplete or limited information, including reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities associated with information which, while incomplete or limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgements.
  • CB9 : Students are able to communicate their conclusions and the ultimate knowledge and rationale behind them to specialist and non-specialist audiences in a clear and unambiguous way.

Learning outcomes (Training objectives)

Specific objectives stated by the academic staff for academic year 2024-25

The main aim of the subject is to know the valid rule to be able to design and execute Near-zero energy buildings (nZEB).

Secondary aims:

  • Know different computer tools recommended by the Ministry of House and Urban Diary to check the fulfillment of the rule, and, determine if the edificación analysed or designed is an (nZEB).
  • Learn to use any of these computer tools (HULC and CE3X)
  • Know the normative evolution.
  • Identify that constructive solutions are better to the hour to design and execute (nZEB).
  • Know that orientation is the ideal.
  • Know that measured of saving are those that have to employ in the nZEB.
  • Know that normative frame integrates the renewable energies in the nZEB.
  • Know different types renewable energies (photovoltaic, thermal solar energy, biomass, geotermia, aerotermia, etc.) and see that option is the most suitable.
