Introduction to Macroeconomics is the first module of a sequence of two that introduce student into the functioning of the macroeconomic system.

Learning outcomes (Training objectives)

  • To understand the basic problems addressed by Macroeconomics: activity, employment and aggregate prices.
  • To understand the indicators used to measure the aggregate progress of the economy.
  • To understand the importance of economic growth and the role played by the financial system.
  • To understand the nature of economic cycles and the economic policy tools used to stabilise fluctuations.
  • Introduction to the problems associated with open economies in their commercial and financial dealings with other countries.
